The Cloud, partners launch free Wi-Fi trial in Cambridge

BskyB-owned Wi-Fi hotspot service The Cloud, the University of Cambridge and Connecting Cambridgeshire have launched a one-year trial of free Wi-Fi service in central Cambridge. More than 20 new Wi-Fi access points have been installed on lighting posts, CCTV poles and public buildings at key locations, including traditional looking lamp posts engineered to host the Wi-Fi technology discretely. The free service will be ready for an expected surge in demand when the Tour de France comes to Cambridge on 7 July. The University of Cambridge is investing in the network as part of plans to extend
