Third of Germans interested in public transport m-payments

Almost 13 million smartphone users (29%) in Germany would like to use their phone to pay for fares on public transport in the future, according to a recent survey by IT association Bitkom. Among 30 to 49 year-olds, the proportion is 35 percent, while the figure drops to 24 percent among respondents aged 50-64. A quarter would also like to pay for parking tickets with their smartphone, while 19 percent of respondents indicated they would like to use it to pay for leisure activities.
