Third of Germans use online banking on smartphones

A third (34%) of Germans use their smartphone for online banking, according to a survey conducted on behalf of IT association Bitkom. Among persons aged between 14 and 29, the percentage goes up to 57 percent. However, the desktop PC remains the most popular device to access online banking at 62 percent, followed by the laptop (57%) and the tablet (39%). When using online banking on their smartphone, 72 percent of the respondents only check their balance, while only 11 percent make payments, and 3 percent access credit. Over a quarter (28%) of respondents use a banking app for online banking
