Third of Mexican broadband plans still below 10 Mbps - IFT

Tuesday 27 September 2016 | 10:32 CET | News
Around 33 percent of fixed internet plans sold in Mexico come with download speeds of between 4 Mbps and 9.99 Mbps, according to a report from telecom regulator IFT. A further 20 percent come with download speeds of 10 and 20 Mbps, with just 21 percent claiming speeds above 20 Mbps. The survey of 67 fixed internet, fixed telephony and single play pay-TV plans also revealed that only around one in six (16%) fixed internet plans had national coverage, with 42 percent available in different states simultaneously and the same figure available in specific municipalities.
