TIM Brasil hires Bradesco to explore bid for Oi - report

Saturday 4 October 2014 | 20:24 CET | News
Brazil's TIM Participacoes has hired Banco Bradesco's investment banking unit to analyse a potential bid for rival Oi, a source with knowledge of the situation told Reuters. According to the source, TIM's controlling shareholder Telecom Italia would use TIM as a vehicle to add all or part of Oi's assets in any eventual purchase. A second source said control of Oi could allow TIM to become Brazil's leading telecom operator. TIM and Bradesco declined to comment.
