TIM Brasil interested only in certain parts of Oi

The Brazilian unit of Telecom Italia, TIM Participacoes, has informed Bradesco, the bank it hired to evaluate the acquisition of competitor Oi, that it does not want to buy the whole company, reports Exame. The Italians want to avoid the risk of having to take on labour liabilities, regulatory fines and businesses with low profitability. Currently, TIM is interested in Oi's broadband and pay-TV operators, just what the company was looking for when it tried to buy another rival, GVT, which was sold to Telefonica in September.
