TIM brings 100 Mbps FTTH to towns in central Italy

Thursday 15 December 2016 | 10:29 CET | News
TIM (Telecom Italia) has announced the launch of fibre-optic services in the towns of Civita Castellana and Grottaferrata in the central Italian provinces of Viterbo and San Salvo. The operator said it rolled out a total of 35 km of cables to connect some 5,000 homes in each town, allowing customers to access the internet at speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Earlier this year, TIM announced that it expects to bring fibre-optic technology to 84 percent of Italian homes by the end of 2018 via an investment of around EUR 3.6 billion.
