TOT, CAT oppose plan to auction concession spectrum

Thai state-owned telecommunications companies TOT and CAT Telecom are opposing a plan by the regulator to auction off spectrum before concessions expire, The Nation reports. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) recently announced a plan to auction 1,800 MHz spectrum that is currently used by TrueMove and Digital Phone Co in August and 900 MHz spectrum that is held by AIS in November. DTAC's 1,800 MHz spectrum will be auction next year. While the concessions of TrueMove and DTAC expired last year, AIS' TOT concession will not expire until 2015 and DTAC's
