Turkish watchdog fines Facebook USD 271,000 for data breach

Turkey's Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) fined Facebook a total of TRY 1.65 million (USD 270,976) in April due to a data breach, according to news agency Reuters. The authority said Facebook failed to rapidly fix a photo API bug the social network found in September. The malfunction allowed third-party applications to access Facebook user photos of around 300,000 users in Turkey. The API bug occurred for 12 days.
