Tuscany to bring fibre-optic broadband to 11 new towns

The Italian region of Tuscany has reached an agreement with Italy's Ministry of Economic Development (MISE) and state-owned infrastructure firm Infratel to roll out fibre-optic broadband in 11 so-called 'white zones' that have been unable to attract private investment. The deal covers the towns of Santa Croce sull'Arno, Pomarance, Bientina, Roccastrada, Capalbio, Castel del Piano, Altopascio, Porcari, Cerreto Guidi, Campo nell'Elba and San Marcello Pistoiese, with the region providing the initial EUR 25 million of the EUR 253 million total cost of the project.
