TV Azteca Q1 net sales down 21% on plunging ad sales, FX effects

Mexican broadcaster and content producer TV Azteca reported a 21 percent year on year fall in revenues to MXN 2.46 billion in the first quarter of 2020, attributed mainly to a declining advertising market due to uncertainty following the coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. The company said its domestic audience levels remained "solid" but its net loss widened – to MXN 2.78 billion in Q1 from MXN 387 million a year earlier – as a result of the depreciation of the Mexican peso, which increased dollar-denominated costs. TV Azteca's EBITDA also declined to a negative MXN 273 million from a positive
