TVE to close Spanish DTT sports channel Teledeporte

Spain's state television network TVE has announced the closure of Teledeporte, one of its four DTT channels, as a part of a plan to balance its accounts. Teledeporte has been on air since 1994 and was the second sports channel to launch in Spain, after Eurosport and before a raft of sports-themed channels such as Sportmania or Canal+ Deporte. TVE unveiled its plan immediately after receiving EUR 130 million from the government as compensation for falling revenue.
