U Mobile unveils marketing targeted at switching customers

Malaysian mobile operator U Mobile has introduced new marketing directions and strategies. The company will market free data, free calls, and free SMS messages to entice mobile users to switch to U Mobile. The company will also reward prepaid customers through rewards programmes when they switch to U Mobile's network. In addition, the operator will enter into partnerships with players within and outside of the industry to offer consumers more benefits. U Mobile announced its partnership with messaging applications KakaoTalk and WeChat, which will offer U Mobile prepaid users on unlimited mobile internet packages free data for the apps. The operator also unveiled UMI 38, a new unlimited mobile internet package for prepaid customers. The package is priced at MYR 38 and offers 200 voice minutes, 30 SMS messages, and 500 MB of 3G data valid for thirty days.
