Uganda approves 12% tax on internet data from July

Uganda has introduced a 12 percent tax on internet data, potentially hiking prices for online access in the country where consumers are already paying some of the world's highest internet costs, Reuters reported. The Excise Duty Bill 2021, which includes this new tax and was tabled on 01 April by Finance Minister Matia Kasaija was passed by the Ugandan Parliament on 29 April.
