Uganda lifts ban on internet after month-long shutdown

The Ugandan government has fully restored internet and social media services except for Facebook, one month after blocking them ahead of the 14 January elections. ICT State minister of Uganda Ogwang said the disruption was needed for security, while critics say it was intended to cut off communication among opponents of President Yoweri Museveni. Ogwang apologised for the inconveniences caused.
