Uganda mobile money transactions reach UGX 18.6 trln in 2013

Uganda's mobile money transactions rose to UGX 18.6 billion in 2013, up from UGX 11.7 trillion in 2012, according to the BAnk of Uganda. The number of people using mobile money increased by 52.4 percent to 14 million, which is twice more than the total number of bank accounts in the country. The number of transactions increased by 65 percent from 241.7 million transactions recorded in 2012 to 399.5 million transactions in 2013.
