Uganda obtains USD 200 mln from World Bank to support digital inclusion

The World Bank has approved USD 200 million in financing to expand access to high-speed and affordable internet in Uganda. It aims to improve digital public service delivery and strengthen digital inclusion. The Uganda Digital Acceleration Project-GovNet (UDAP-GovNet) will support the extension of 1,000 km of national backbone fibre, another 500 km of fibre links between towns, mobile broadband connections for 900 government administrative units and service centres in under-served areas, and 828 Wi-Fi hotspots in for rural, peri-urban, under-served and unserved communities.
