Uganda to start blocking unverified SIM cards after 01 May

Ugandan mobile phone subscribers have until 01 May to verify their SIM cards or risk being disconnected. MTN said subscribers will be required to verify numbers registered under their national identification numbers (NIN). The Uganda Communications Commission said the requirement follows a 19 March meeting where audit findings revealed non-compliance with SIM card registration guidelines.
