Ugandan govt mobile money tax in first 3 months falls short of expectations

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has collected UGX 103 billion in mobile money tax in the first quarter of the 2018/19 financial year, reports The Monitor. The amount the government collected between July and September was below the UGX 151.5 billion it had hoped for. The tax was introduced in July under excise duty amendments, with the URA having a revenue collection target of UGX 16 trillion for the 2018/19 financial year.
