Ugandan minister says unused airtime scratch cards to be converted into mobile money

Ugandan ICT Minister Frank Tumwebaze says that airtime scratch cards that were not loaded by midnight on 31 July will be converted into mobile money, reports the Monitor. This is to ensure mobile airtime customers do not lose money that was locked in scratch cards. Operators have gradually phased out scratchcards and the majority of users are already using electronic top-ups, Tumwebaze told parliament.
