Ugandan mobile money tax collection overshoots target in H1 2018-19

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) collected UGX 104.75 billion in mobile money tax in the first half of the 2018/19 financial year from July to December 2018, reports The Monitor. The target had been UGX 54.75 billion, so there was  a surplus of about UGX 50 billion. However, Over the Top Tax or social media tax  collection was only UGX 21.12 billion in the same period, against a target of UGX 135.21 billion.
