Ugandan regulator orders social media shutdown ahead of election on 14 January

Internet service providers (ISPs) were ordered on 12 January to block all social media platforms and messaging applications until further notice, Reuters reported citing a letter from the Ugandan communications regulator. Users complained that they were unable to access Facebook and WhatsApp, which have been used widely for campaigning ahead of 14 January's presidential election
