Ugandan telecoms remit UGX 4.4 bln in social media tax for July

Uganda's telecom operators remitted a combined sum of UGX 4.4 billion collected from the social media tax in July, failing to hit the government's target of UGX 8.3 billion, according to figures obtained from different government sources, reports The Daily Monitor. According to the available data, UGX 24 billion collected from mobile money tax in July was in the same measure remitted to the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) on 15 August.
