UK connected TV ad revenues to reach GBP 220 mln in 2020 - study

The UK is the largest and most advanced connected TV advertising market in Europe, according to research released by video ad serving platform SpotX. Research and strategy consulting company MTM analysed the opportunity for connected TV advertising in the 'Big Five' markets in Europe. The report shows that the UK has an established connected TV advertising ecosystem, with GBP 115 million of advertising viewed on a TV connected to the open internet via streaming devices, smart TVs, set-top boxes and games consoles in 2016. 

UK connected TV advertising revenue is forecast to grow to GBP 220 million in 2020 as the OTT advertising market grows across Europe, the US and Asia. The research shows that awareness and adoption of connected TV is high in the UK, with the creation of connected apps identified as one of the top three priorities for broadcasters questioned for the UK study.
