UK emergency network roll-out likely delayed

A report from the UK Public Accounts Committee said it is likely the new 4G Emergency Services Network IESN) system will require testing beyond its scheduled start date of December 2019, delaying introduction, the BBC reported. A number of MPs have warned that delays in introducing the new radio system for emergency services in England, Wales and Scotland could cost taxpayers GBP 475 million per year and that the Home Office would need to put contingency plans in place as it had not budgeted for such a long postponement.
