UK, Germany, France seek more taxes from web giants

British, German and French ministers have been meeting in recent weeks to discuss how to prevent Internet companies such as Amazon, Facebook, Google and Microsoft from shifting profits to low-tax countries, reports the Wall Street Journal. Government officials told the newspaper that the ministers are discussing changes in international tax standards and new interpretations of where economic activity occurs under existing laws. Finance ministers from the three countries pledged EUR 150,000 each to hasten work on tax proposals due in February 2013 from the OECD. The EU tax commissioner is also
