UK govt set to rewrite BBC mission statement - report

The UK Government is set to rewrite the BBC's founding mission statement, currently 'to inform, educate and entertain', The Telegraph has learnt. The Government is due to publish its White Paper on the BBC's future. It is expected to change its remit to add that the BBC must be distinct and impartial, amid concerns that the corporation's output has become too similar to commercial rivals.
