UK meets target of 90% superfast broadband - minister

The UK has reached its goal of over 90 percent of the country able to receive superfast broadband, the digital economy minister Ed Vaizey said in a parliamentary debate. Originally planned for end-2015, the target was later pushed back to 2016, ISPreview.co.uk reports. According to the minister, the current situation is "93 percent of the country able to receive fibre [FTTC/P], 90 percent of the country able to get superfast speeds of 24 megabits and above, and 50 percent of the country able to get ultrafast broadband speeds of 100 megabits and above".
