UK mobile operators expect major changes to mast rules

The CEO's of EE, O2 and Vodafone have warned the government that there must be major changes to existing rules on phone mast installations or it will not be possible to meet the 90 percent coverage target for 2017. The number of masts must rise to 40,000, versus 27,500 now. EE CEO Olaf Swantee told Mobile News, "It is important the new government now in place delivers on the previous commitment to undertake supportive reform of the Electronic Communications Code, as part of our commitment to deliver 90 percent geographical coverage.
