UK to launch GBP 40 mln Institute of Coding

The UK's Prime Minister Theresa May has announced the launch of a new Institute of Coding at the World Economic Forum 2018 in Davos. In a speech May said the government would be working hand in hand with a consortium of more than 60 universities, businesses and industry experts on the project designed to tackle the UK's digital skills gap. The government's GBP 20 million investment will be matched by a further GBP 20 million from industry, with businesses including IBM, Cisco, BT and Microsoft, SMEs and professional bodies such as the British Computer Society and CREST also on board.
