Unions calls for Orange France to replace all retiring staff

French unions CGT, SUD and CFE-CGC have called for Orange France to hire 5,000 employees on permanent contracts in 2014 and to replace all workers who leave in the following years, reports Les Echos. The unions fear that the company's policy of not replacing staff when they retire will worsen the social climate again and that service quality will suffer for consumers. According to the CGT, 18,300 employees left the company and 4,800 were hired between 2013 and 2016. Slightly under half of the employees expected to leave are currently working in network deployment and maintenance services,
