UPC Hungary, Invitel fined for customer contract violations

UPC Hungary and Invitel were fined by the National Media and Communications Authority (NMHH) for violations of customer contract regulations. Invitel received a fine of HUF 80 million for a unilateral amendment to customer contracts, while UPC Hungary was fined HUF 10 million for taking over a year to change its terms and conditions as ordered by the regulator to bring it in line with consumer protection rules. The regulator noted that the new customer contract rules that took effect in Hungary on 01 August should help avoid similar problems in future.
