Uruguay mobile subs up 5% to 5.3 mln in Q2

The number of mobile telephony subscribers in Uruguay grew to 5.3 million at the end of the second quarter of 2020, up 5.3 percent year on year, according to the latest update from communications regulator Ursec. State-owned operator Antel continued as market leader with 46.3 percent, having lost 260,000 of its 2.1 million lines in the first 6 months of the year. Movistar followed with 33.0 percent of the market (1.5 million) and Claro accounted for 20.8 percent (930,000).
