Uruguay to auction 5G-ready spectrum by April

The Uruguayan government has issued a decree outlining plans to hold a tender for spectrum in the 1.8GHz, 2.5GHz and AWS (1.7GHz to 2.1GHz) bands later this year, reports local daily La Republica. The aim is to enable the operators Claro and Movistar to acquire the spectrum needed to provide the latest 5G services, said the report, adding that 20-year concessions will be awarded at a base price ranging from USD 5 million to USD 7.5 million per block.
