Uruguay's Antel told to pay USD 45 mln for LTE spectrum

Uruguayan regulator Ursec has announced that state-owned operator Antel must pay a total of USD 45.4 million for 55 MHz of spectrum in the 700 MHz, 1900/2100 MHz and 2100 MHz bands. The blocks were reserved for the operator in the recent auction in which rivals Claro and Movistar each secured 20MHz and 30MHz of spectrum for USD 35.2 million and USD 30.9 million respectively to expand coverage and capacity of their LTE networks.
