US broadband adds slow to just 190,000 in Q2

Tuesday 16 August 2016 | 13:28 CET | News
The fourteen largest cable and phone companies in the US, representing some 95 percent of the market, added just 190,000 broadband subscribers in the second quarter, according to Leichtman Research. Although the April-June period is a traditionally weak quarter, the figure is the lowest result than in any quarter in the past fifteen years, said Leichtmann. Phone providers lost more broadband subscribers in Q2 than in any previous quarter but cable companies added over 550,000 subscribers, some 139 percent more than a year ago and the most in any second quarter since 2008.
