US charges for international calls fell 18% in 2011

The average per-minute charge to US consumers for international calls fell 18 percent from USD 0.06 per minute in 2010 to USD 0.05 per minute in 2011, according to a new annual report from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). From 2000 to 2011, the charge has decreased 89 percent, from USD 0.47 per minute to USD 0.05 per minute. International "US-billed" traffic, primarily traffic originating in the US, increased 18.1 percent from 62.4 billion minutes in 2010 to 73.7 billion minutes in 2011. Of the top ten countries with the most US-billed minutes, India minutes increased the most.
