US court rejects disclosure of DirecTV programming deals

Media companies including CBS and Disney don't have to disclose programming agreements with cable operators as part of the US review of AT&T's plan to buy DirecTV. A federal appeals court in Washington ruled that the Federal Communications Commission can't let third parties who comment on the deal see the information, Bloomberg reports. The decision is a setback for the FCC and its examination of the USD 48.5 billion takeover of the satellite TV provider by AT&T. The commission, which delayed its review pending the court decision, had said critics of the deal should be able to see the
