US internet users receive download speeds advertised

US internet users generally receive the download speeds that companies advertise, with fibre and satellite connections frequently outperforming expectations, according to a new report from the Federal Communications Commission. Most companies offer download speeds during peak periods that roughly match what they advertise. Verizon Communications' fibre connection, the company's fastest, averaged download speeds that were 118 percent of advertised download rates, followed by Cablevision Systems with 115 percent and Comcast at 103 percent.
