US pay TV operators lose 1.1 mln customers in 2015

US cable, DBS and telecom operators lost 1.1 million video customers in 2015, four times more than in 2014, according to research from SNL Kagan. This is the third consecutive overall annual decline for the industry. After steep losses in the first three quarters, there were signs of stabilisation in the fourth quarter, when subscribers declined by only 15,000, the same number as in the fourth quarter of 2014. Cable operators lost 599,000 total video customers in 2015, DBS lost 478,000 subscribers in 2015, the telecom operator segment ended 2015 essentially flat.
