US pay-TV operators lose over 190,000 subscribers in Q3

The largest thirteen pay TV providers in the US, representing around 95 percent of the market, lost over 190,000 net video subscribers in the third quarter, compared to a loss of around 155,000 in the third quarter of 2014, according to Leichtman Research. The top pay TV providers had around 94 million subscribers at the end of September, including 48.8 million at the top nine cable companies, 33.5 million at satellite TV companies, and nearly 11.7 million at the biggest phone companies. The quarterly study also found that top cable MSO losses were the fewest of any third quarter since 2006.
