The US's major pay TV providers added approximately 11,400 subscribers in the first quarter, a steep drop from 170,000 net adds in the first quarter of 2015, according to Leichtman Research. The top pay TV companies had about 94.2 million subscribers at the end of March, consisting of 49.1 million on cable, 34 million on satellite, including around 665,000 from Dish's Sling TV OTT online service, and 11.1 million on phone companies' IPTV. The research found that gains from DirecTV and cable were offset by high losses at AT&T U-verse.
