UTL exempts medical and educational institutions from 12% excise duty on internet services

Ugandan Telecom (UTL) has announced that it will levy the 12 percent excise duty on some of its internet services, but not others, Techjaja reported. UTL said its core internet prices will remain unchanged for all its customers, but it will apply the 12 percent excise duty. Internet services offered to medical and educational institutions will be exempted from the levy.
