Vendors to sell 1 mln 5G smartphones in 2019 - study

Tuesday 11 December 2018 | 15:30 CET | News
A total of over 1 million 5G handsets are expected to be sold in 2019 by around 20 vendors, with the first available in Q2, according to the latest edition of Deloitte's TMT Predictions report. The number of handsets sold should expand to 15 to 20 million units by 2020, representing around 1 percent of all smartphone sales, with sales taking off in 2021, the first year in which retailers will sell more than 100 million 5G handsets, said the report. A further one million 5G modems/pucks are also predicted to sell in 2019.
