Venezuela reaches 12.66 mln smartphones by end 2014

Venezuela reached 12.66 million smartphones by the end of the fourth quarter of 2014, up compared to 10.66 million at the end of the previous quarter, according to a recent report by local telecoms services regulator Conatel. By the end of the first quarter of 2014, the total base of smartphones in the country was 9.24 million. LTE technology accounted for only 0.60 percent of total mobile lines in the country by the end of the fourth quarter. Android-based phones accounted for 39.7 percent of total smartphones, followed by BlackBerry OS (30.92%), Windows Phone (5.4%) and iOS (4.1). Other
