Verizon and collaborative workspace specialist Grind have opened a new co-working space in Verizon’s former headquarters building at 140 West Street across from One World Trade Center. The opening follows the collaboration announced by Verizon and Grind last October. Verizon worked with Grind and architects Gensler to create the 10,000 sq ft space to serve New York City’s technology, start-up and entrepreneur community with flexible workplace options.

Verizon Ventures will use the space for its portfolio companies and to provide mentorship for local start-ups and entrepreneurs. Grind’s members will have access to the operator’s high speed broadband and other platforms. Verizon said it hopes to add more Grind locations at other office locations in the city, and is looking at spaces in Brooklyn and Long Island City as potential future sites.
