VG Media lets Google display content free of charge

Friday 24 October 2014 | 11:42 CET | News
Publishing group VG Media said it had decided to allow Google to show its content in its search results free of charge from 23 October, after Google had said it would only display short extracts from VG publications and no images. VG Media said its publishers considered they had no choice but to take this unusual step, given Google's market dominance. Otherwise, they would risk losing income, it said. VG said it considers Google's action to be in breach of anti-monopoly law.
