Videotron tests broadband speeds over 1 Gbps

Canadian operator Videotron confirmed plans to introduce broadband speeds of over 1 Gbps on its cable network. Its top speed currently is 200 Mbps, available in much of its footprint, and Videotron has been testing new Docsis 3.0 equipment to raise speeds further. Testing of the new service, which supports speeds of 1,000 Mbps or more under certain conditions, began in Montreal-area homes and businesses several months ago. The pilot project's results so far confirm the reliability of Videotron's hybrid network and its ability to deliver more advanced services, the operator said in a
