Viettel Tanzania tightens control on SIM card distribution

Viettel Tanzania says it has taken measures to ensure its SIM cards are distributed by trusted and registered dealers. Head of Communications Mhina Semwenda said that the changes are part of a plan to streamline SIM cards sales and registration process. The firm, which trades as Halotel, and has reduced the amount of SIM cards supplied to dealers, and will release new stock only once they are convinced that they are sold in compliance with the law, he said.
