Virgin Media plans major Wi-Fi network expansion - report

Tuesday 18 August 2015 | 08:38 CET | News
Virgin Media is preparing to expand its Wi-Fi network by installing hotspots in street-side cabinets, giving customers internet access at no charge when outside the house, the Telegraph reports, citing no sources. The move by the Liberty Global subsidiary is aimed at competing with BT which is bringing broadband and mobile together through its acquisition of EE. Virgin is also reportedly readying a major home router update to allow subscribers to use each others' Wi-Fi when in range.
